Norme ECO Design 2022

Ecological design regulations have existed for more than 10 years. In fact, it was in 2015 that European countries decided to implement this standard. The main purpose of this is to let consumers know the performance of the products they buy, and on the other hand, to impose higher and higher performance on manufacturers with minimal impact on the environment.

However, the application of ECO DESIGN 2022 standard was not completed within one year. In fact, the implementation of this measure is gradual, especially in 2017, manufacturers are obliged to attach energy performance labels to wood fired boilers.

Subsequently, European countries forced manufacturers to affix these performance labels on all wood burning appliances.

Nowadays, the design of high-performance products and the rational use of resources are crucial. In fact, the wood heating system must now meet the specified energy and environmental performance levels. If these do not meet this, they cannot be sold as heaters.

The goal is to promote ecological design, whether in the manufacture or use of wood burning appliances.

How does this change consumers

From the perspective of consumers, the ECO DESIGN 2022 standard has brought about four major changes. This obliges the manufacturer to produce the equipment:

Economy: These must achieve better energy production, so they are more economical in terms of fuel.

Reduce pollution: new equipment must also reduce emissions of particles, carbon monoxide, etc.

Safety: For safety reasons, open fireplaces can no longer be sold as heating elements.

Comparable: Labels must appear on all devices

New Information Label

Finally, the ECO DESIGN 2022 standard has changed the electrical labels we found today:

Product name

brand

Business Reference

Direct power

Energy

Emission rate of particulate matter and carbon dioxide

Using the new standard tomorrow, we will also find:

Quantity of pollutants released: carbon monoxide (CO); Nitrogen oxides (NOx) or gaseous organic compounds.

ETAS seasonal energy efficiency: measure the whole heating cycle of the product. As a result, it has a more accurate understanding of the equipment and can better predict these savings
